“West Side Story” is an award-winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy “Romeo and Juliet.” Set in New York City, it revolves around two rival teenage street gangs: the white Jets, led by Riff, and the Latino Sharks, led by Bernardo. Their hatred escalates until Tony, Riff’s best friend and a former Jet, falls in love with Maria, Bernardo’s younger sister. Despite the odds, Maria and Tony secretly plan to be together. However, a planned rumble between the gangs leads to tragedy, culminating in a heartbreaking ending. The film beautifully captures the tension, passion, and forbidden love that define this timeless story .
