In “Riders of Destiny,” John Wayne portrays Singin’ Sandy Saunders, a notorious gunman with a twist—he’s actually a special Secret Service agent sent from Washington to investigate a land swindle scheme orchestrated by town boss James Kincaid (Forrest Taylor). The film, released in 1933, marked the beginning of a series of Lone Star Westerns produced by Monogram Pictures and directed by Robert N. Bradbury. It also introduced Wayne to his frequent co-star, George “Gabby” Hayes.
