The Scream is a composition created by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch in 1893.

Edvard Munch (Norwegian, 1863 - 1944)

“The Scream” by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The original artwork is known for its expressionistic colors and depiction of a figure with an agonized expression against a tumultuous sky. Munch’s “The Scream” is iconic for portraying existential angst and despair. However, in this altered version, the central figure’s face has been obscured by a plain beige circle, removing the most expressive element of the painting. This modification significantly changes the impact and meaning of the work, as the face conveys much of the emotional content in Munch’s original piece.
