Boxing Match of the Century; Dempsey Vs. Carpentier (1935) Eric Rohman (Swedish, 1891 - 1949) T-Shirt

William Harrison “Jack” Dempsey (June 24, 1895 – May 31, 1983), nicknamed “Kid Blackie” and “The Manassa Mauler,” was an American professional boxer. He held the world heavyweight title from 1919 to 1926. Known for his aggressive style and exceptional punching power, Dempsey became a cultural icon of the 1920s. His fights often set financial and attendance records, including the first million-dollar gate. His legacy endures as one of the greatest fighters in boxing history

Georges Carpentier (1894–1975) was a French boxer, actor, and World War I pilot. A precocious pugilist, Carpentier fought in numerous weight categories. His most notable bout was against Jack Dempsey, the reigning world heavyweight champion, in the “Fight of the Century” on July 2, 1921. Despite being the underdog, Carpentier’s hero status resonated with fans, especially due to his wartime service for the French Army. The match took place at Boyle’s Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey, where Dempsey ultimately secured victory via a fourth-round knockout
